Courtney Sexton was named Director, Documentary Production in July, 2005. Her duties include supporting Executive Vice President of Documentary Production Diane Weyermann in managing all Participant projects in production as well as in reviewing all projects submitted to the company for consideration. While at Participant, she has been involved with such projects as The World According to Sesame Street, the Academy Award®-winning An Inconvenient Truth, Angels in the Dust, Jimmy Carter Man From Plains, Darfur Now, Chicago 10, Standard Operating Procedure, Pressure Cooker, Food, Inc., and the upcoming releases Climate of Change, Casino Jack and the United States of Money, Cane Toads: The Conquest and Waiting for Superman.
Before joining Participant, she worked for two years with An Inconvenient Truth director Davis Guggenheim on the HBO series Deadwood, as well as several TV pilots. Prior to that, she worked extensively in television and feature film production, beginning with the FX series The Shield.
Courtney received her MSc in Transitioning European Political Economies from the London School of Economics in 2000, and immediately thereafter moved to California, settling in Los Angeles after a year in San Francisco. She is currently a mentor in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.
