Bob Murphy
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Joining Participant in May of 2007, Bob Murphy oversees all financial activities for the organization. An executive with over 24 years experience, he has worked with some of the most successful companies and established brands of our time. Contributing to the further success of Participant is a role he couldn’t pass up.
Prior to joining Participant, Bob spent nine years as CFO for International Creative Management, playing a key role in the growth and success of this leading company in talent representation. Working with agents and clients, as well as guiding the executive team through strategic issues, Bob’s experience covers all aspects of the entertainment and media spectrum. ICM’s clients were leaders in Film, TV, Publishing and Music, and Bob had significant involvement in all their key projects. In addition to guiding the day-to-day operations of the agency, his last project was as a key member of the team involved in selling an ownership stake to the Rizvi/Traverse Group, the first investment of its kind by a private equity group in the talent agency world.
Before ICM, Bob spent seven years with The Walt Disney Company in a variety of roles, the most recent of which was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group. In this role he supervised all financial activities for the company’s three production labels: Disney, Touchstone, and Hollywood Films — as well as overseeing other businesses such as Miramax, Hollywood Records, and Disney Theatrical Productions (Broadway). Earlier he spent four years as Vice President of Finance for Buena Vista Pictures Distribution and Marketing, two business units charged with distributing all Disney film output during a period of rapid growth.
Bob began his professional career at The Pepsi-Cola Company, where he worked for eight years in a series of increasingly responsible financial, operating, and marketing roles. Pepsi is an industry leader in growing management talent, and Bob was a beneficiary of the intensive management experience offered there. His last Pepsi job was as CFO for the Pepsi Southwest Bottling Company, a role covering all Pepsi operations in Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas.
Bob holds a B.A. in Chemistry and Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
