Holly Hines Named SVP of Scripted Programming For Cable Network

Participant Media has named Holly Hines as Senior Vice President, Scripted Programming, for the company’s yet-to-be-named cable television network targeting millennials. Hines will spearhead all scripted development and production and will be based in Los Angeles, reporting to Evan Shapiro, President, Participant Television.

Hines is the latest in a series of executive staffing announcements made this year for Participant Media’s new network launching in Summer 2013. The new cable network will offer a thought-provoking and entertaining mix of original and acquired content. A diverse programming slate will include live cross-platform news and events as well as script and unscripted series being developed with award-winning talent and will be home to the world television premieres of Participant Media’s award-winning documentaries and films.

Shapiro said: “Holly is a talented programmer with a keen eye for talent and a great understanding of the millennial audience. Her deep relationships in the creative community and her passion for our mission make her the perfect addition to the Participant Television team.”

Hines joins the company from FremantleMedia North America where she was Vice President, Scripted Development. During her time at FremantleMedia, Hines was charged with development for new scripted projects and worked closely with FremantleMedia's pods and subsidiaries, including Mike Tollin Productions, Barry Josephson Entertainment, Random House Studios, Pukeko Pictures and @Radical.Media. FremantleMedia has pilots in development at E!, Bravo and TNT and a pilot order at The CW.

Prior to FremantleMedia North America, Hines was at Fuse where she was director of development and original series and oversaw all scripted programming. Previously, she served as manager of development for TLC, where she was responsible for over 100 hours of programming, including “Trading Spaces” and “American Chopper.” Before TLC, Hines served as manager of development at Bull’s Eye Entertainment, where she was involved in the TV series “Crash” for STARZ and “Angela’s Eyes” for Lifetime. She also served as a development executive at Reveille, working on the scripted series “The Office,” “Tudors,” “Ugly Betty” and the unscripted series, “Nashville Star” “The Biggest Loser” and “30 Days.” Hines is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley.
